There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson
This is one of my favorite poems and one that embodies the biggest fears we all have – we are not good enough. As this New Year starts I challenge you to BELIEVE you are good enough!
Instead of making a list of resolutions that can never be lived up to, make a list of how you will start LOVING yourself and achieving all the things you have allowed your inadequate thinking to prevent you from doing. Don’t know where to start? As a starting place here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- What am I afraid of?
- Is this fear truth?
- What is stopping me from achieving ________?
- If I could change one thought now, what would it be?
- Who told me I couldn’t be great?
- Who told me I couldn’t achieve ________?
- If I achieved ________. How would I feel? How would it change my life?
Loving you takes work and because self-talk is our biggest enemy it can be twice as hard. Understanding where these feeling have come from will help you better understand your starting point and start putting a plan together to progress in this journey. Start small and incorporate simple things to do each day, like maybe looking in the mirror and quote your favorite affirmations that make you feel joyful or start a GRATITUDE JOURNAL to remind you of all the reasons why you are brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous.
