How to Eat Right When Eating Out

Eating right doesn’t mean you can never eat out, it means you must be careful with what you eat and do it the right way. When eating out it doesn’t matter where you go, almost every place has something that is better to eat than other things and it doesn’t mean you always have to eat a salad.

Going out to eat is nice because it’s quick and it’s easy. If you’re on the go and need to eat before you go again or if you’re short on time, fast food may be the only option. While it’s fast and it’s food, it’s not the best, but it is what it is, so you need to find ways to eat right.

One thing to remember when you’re going out to eat is you must watch your portion sizes. Yes, McDonald’s and Wendy’s offer larger sizes on fries and drinks, but you don’t need them. When you order the larger sizes you’re getting into more than one serving and that’s not what you need.

Stick to the regular size when you order. Another thing to remember is greasy foods are not good for you. Crispy and breaded chicken sandwiches may sound like their healthy, but they’re not because of the grease. You need to order a grilled chicken sandwich instead.

The bread or bun your sandwich or burger comes on is another thing that’s not so good. You should either order it without it all together or remove at least the top piece and only eat it with the bottom one. You may think this will be hard to do, but after a few times you’ll find it’s not so bad.

One last thing is most restaurants are realizing people need to eat healthier so they’re starting to offer healthier meals. This may be a low-fat meal or they may offer several different salads. Some are even offering a side salad instead of fries. They know if they don’t offer healthy foods they’re going to lose a portion of their customers. Since that’s not what they want, they’ve decided it’s better to accommodate them.

The important thing to remember when eating out is it’s ok to do it if you do it properly. Think about what you’re going to have beforehand so you can order it without stressing over it and think about what you’re eating when you order. Portion sizes, less grease, and the bun are just a few of the things to consider. Just remember, it’s ok to eat out when you do it the right way.
